  1. What is your middle name? I don’t have one!
  2. What is your favorite color? Green.
  3. Who was your first best friend? I am very fortunate to be able to say that my first best friend is still my best friend, some 19 years later!
  4. How tall are you? 6ft 1in (around 185cm).

  5. Cats or Dogs? Dogs!
  6. How many countries have you visited? 11 (so far…)
  7. Have you gone to college? Yes, two! I got my BSc at the very beautiful Royal Holloway (pictured – from my final year bedroom, no less), followed by an MSc at the wonderful (albeit slightly less beautiful) Cranfield University.
  8. What was your favourite class in high school? English (literature)! I love to read and the teacher was brilliant, so naturally I enjoyed those classes the most, though the subject matter I found most interesting was always Biology (which unfortunately the teacher never did justice).
  9. What is your Favorite drink? Pepsi or orange juice, or Pepsi and orange juice (or orange fanta/tango/etc), or Pepsi mixed with alcohol-free wheat beer (known in Germany as Cola-Weizen) – though a German may argue I am actually mixing Pepsi with an “isotonic drink” as non-alcoholic beers are marketed there.
  10. What is your favorite animal? I think Ethiopian wolves (Canis simensis) are the most gorgeous animals to grace the earth. Definitely my spirit-animal (or dæmon – see question 14).
  11. What is your favorite perfume? Angel Schlesser’s Madera de Naranjo (a citrus accord with aromatic, woody, green, and sweet notes) and David Beckham Classic (also woody, aromatic, and green, but with amber and spice notes) are my two favourite scents.
  12. Tea or Coffee? Coffee, but I do love a good chai!
  13. What Sports do you play/have you played? As a young boy I swam at regional level, played for a local football (soccer) team, and on my school’s cricket and basketball teams. At high school I focused on rugby and rowing initially, before devoting my time entirely to rowing, in which I competed at national level for many years – ultimately taking me to Team GB trials (though mononucleosis put an end to that adventure). I’m also a lifelong skater, though I’ve never approached it as a sport.
  14. What is your favorite book? When I first read Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy it gripped me like nothing I’d ever read; starting to come of age myself it was especially relatable on an emotional level, and affected me like no book had before or has since. The ending still moves me to tears over a decade (and many re-reads) later.
  15. Who are some of your favorite YouTubers? I watch a lot of youtubers, but the five I watch most regularly are John Hill, Dale Decker, Harry Main, Adam LZ, and Scotty Cranmer, who recently suffered a serious accident (you can read more about it, and support his recovery here). Scotty is one of the most inspiring and positive people I’ve even seen, and I’m hoping for as speedy and complete a recovery as possible for him.
  16. What is your favorite movie? Overall I’d say I Saw The Devil, which in my opinion provides a perfect balance of extreme violence, a strong storyline with powerful emotional themes, and phenomenal acting and stunning cinematography. I also love The Big Lebowski, my go-to comedy, and arguably the most quotable film ever (though I Love You, Man comes a close second). The Dude abides!
  17. Do you speak any different languages and how well? I am Spanish-English bilingual (and hold dual citizenship), and can speak functional (but imperfect) French and Catalan.
  18. Do you have any siblings? I have one sister, a phenomenally gifted dancer living the dream in Sitges, a gorgeous beach town just outside Barcelona. I’m a very proud older brother!
  19. What are some of your favorite tv shows? The X Files is my all-time number one show (in fact, a sticker of Mulder’s “I Want To Believe” poster adorns the laptop I’m writing this on…), but I also loved Dexter, Mad Dogs, and Luther.
  20. PC or mac?

X.
